This was a pretty cool day out.

A montage of "Mikey" at the same places. He's small and the bike's small which is why it looks in proportion! He tried hard to get his knee on the ground but I guess his legs just aren't long enough. Though he nearly got his backside on the ground when he had a humongous slide coming out of "Nationale bocht". I too had a slide there, but nothing as dramatic as Mikey's. My main event was a huge 'slapper that nearly turned into a highside as I dug my left footpeg into the ground whilst trying to go around the outside of an 'SRAD at "de Bult"

Another guy there was "Pauly", he rode a FZR1000 most of the time. He and I seemed to be quite well matched on the track, and after we got familiar with the circuit, started racing each other, and rapidly found the limits of our respective machines.

Paul's bike had a lousy rear tyre, that kept leaving black streaks everywhere. So I could out-corner him no problem, but my brakes kept fading and my bike was a lot heavier (nothing to do with me being a lard-arse I don't think), so Paul kept out-braking me, and began to realise that once you have the advantage going into the corner you can soon pull away. But not next year matey boy !!

Paul also managed to blag a few rides on other people's bikes, he got a track prepared Fireblade ......

... and somehow, through sheer American gall, got a 916, with slicks !

Nice artwork Mikey, you'd never know !!!!

We have some provisional dates for Assen this year ('98), so I shall certainly be doing it again. But on my own '916.
